KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball earned their third North Eastern Athletic Conference on Saturday, defeating Gallaudet University 58-50 at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Keuka College (4-13, 3-8 NEAC) will remain at home on Sunday as they host Wilson College. Tip is set for 3pm and it is Parents/Senior Day for the Women's Basketball team.
Katie Stuart led Keuka with 18 points. She added nine rebounds, which also led the team. Lauren Anten was also in double figures with 15 points. The freshman also added a team-high four steals. Samantha Blum filled the stat sheet for Keuka. She finished with four points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks.
Gallaudet University scored the first six points of the game and led 10-3 halfway through the first quarter. Keuka responded however and closed the opening frame on a 17-0 run, capped by a Stuart buzzer-beating jumper, for a 20-10 lead after 10 minutes of play.
The Bison would work the lead down to four points, 22-18, four minutes into the quarter, but a layup and three pointer by Katie Stuart on back-to-back possessions pushed the lead back out. Keuka led 32-25 at the break.
A three by Lauren Anten opened the third, but the Bison had a response. They worked the margin down to six, 37-31, with six minutes left in the quarter, but Keuka went on a run. They scored the next 11 points of the game. Gallaudet stopped the steak, but the Green and Gold led 48-35 after three quarters.
Keuka College remained in control for the fourth quarter. The Bison started fouling and hit a three to make it a single-digit lead, 57-50, with 52 seconds left, but it was not enough as Keuka would go on to defeat Gallaudet 58-50.
