READING, Pa. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball defeated Penn St.-Berks on Friday by the score of 70-55 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup
Keuka College (3-11, 2-7 NEAC) will step out of conference play this Wednesday as they travel to SUNY Canton.
Katie Stuart led Keuka with 19 points on Friday. Courtney Boyea went 4-7 from three point territory and finished with a career-high 14 points for Keuka. Lauren Anten and Abby Hess each added 13 points in the win. Samantha Blum finished with a team-high 10 boards as Keuka outrebounded the Nittany Lions 40-18.
Keuka College got out to an 8-2 lead over Penn St.-Berks with all eight points coming from Katie Stuart. The junior had a layup and a pair of three pointers in the opening minutes of the game. The Nittany Lions scored the final seven points of the quarter to take a 9-8 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Berks made their first three of the quarter to make it a 10-0 run against Keuka. But the Gold and Gold answered back. Courtney Boyea made back-to-back threes for Keuka to give them a 14-12 lead. The Nittany Lions took the lead back, but Keuka closed the half on a 10-0 run. Than run included two more three pointers by Boyea, as Keuka College led 29-21 at halftime.
Keuka continued to grow their lead in the third quarter. Lauren Anten got in on the action as she scored seven of Keuka's 13 points in the quarter. After three quarters of play, the Green and Gold led the Nittany Lions 42-31.
The Green and Gold would slowly continue to grow their lead as the fourth quarter progressed. A layup by Boyea gave Keuka a 21 point lead with three minutes left to play. Keuka would go on to earn their second NEAC win of the season, defeating Penn St.-Berks 70-55.
