Sophomore Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, N.Y./Tupper Lake) scored 12 points with eight rebounds, but the Keuka College women's basketball team suffered a 48-43 setback to Morrisville State Saturday afternoon inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.

Stuart also had four assists, while senior Erica Pendrak (New Hartford, N.Y./New York Mills) added 8 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists for the Wolfpack (3-11, 3-7 NEAC).

Junior Mackenzie Cole (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) scored 9 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists, while sophomore Chinyere Ukwu (Roosevelt, N.Y./St. Dominic) added six points with three rebounds for the Wolfpack, who enjoyed a 36-30 edge in rebounding.

Cole scored all of her points on triples, connecting on 3 of 4. Pendrak and Stuart each made a pair of '3s', while Pendrak, Ukwu and senior Amanda Kubitz (Spencerport, N.Y./E.J. Wilson) each went 2-for-2 on free throws as Keuka was a perfect 6-for-6 on free throws.

The Mustangs (12-5, 8-2) shot 75 percent on free throws (24 of 32).

Keuka's stingy defense held Morrisville State to just 28.9 percent shooting (11 of 38).

The Wolfpack trailed 45-41 with 1:18 remaining before Stuart made a jumper to make it a two-point contest. Alyssa Gratien hit one of two free throws to push the lead to 46-43, and following a Keuka turnover, Jordan Anderson made a pair of free throws to clinch the win.

The Mustangs (12-5, 8-2) led 6-2 on a layup from Anderson 3:46 into the contest, but the Green and Gold clamped down and held Morrisville State without a basket for more than eight minutes in the opening half.

Cole swished a pair of '3s' and Pendrak drained a triple to put the Wolfpack up 11-6 halfway through the first. The Wolfpack did not allow a basket for 8:23 until Caitlin Duree hit a jumper to slice the lead to 11-8 with 7:51 left in the first.

Pendrak made a pair of free throws for a 16-14 lead with 4:25 remaining, but Morrisville went on an 8-0 run and led 22-16 with 2:08 remaining.

Cole hit a '3' and Ukwu added two free throws and a layup as the Wolfpack went into halftime trailing 24-23.

Stuart hit a layup and made a jumper to open the second half as Keuka led 27-24, and the lead grew to 30-26 when Pendrak buried a '3' 4:18 into the second.

But the Mustangs answered with a 13-4 spurt and led 39-34 with 10:06 to play.

Stuart hit a '3', junior Meghan Ideman (Moravia, N.Y./Moravia) added a jumper and Kubitz hit a pair of free throws to even the score at 41, but the Mustangs closed the game on a 7-2 run to earn their fourth straight win.

Anderson scored 16 points and Gratien added 12 points with six rebounds for the Mustangs.
