Sophomore Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, N.Y./Tupper Lake) recorded her second straight double-double, but the Keuka College women's basketball fell to Wentworth Institute of Technology 60-49 Sunday in the consolation game of the Emerson Tip-Off Tournament in Boston, Mass.
Stuart scored 13 points with 12 rebounds, and senior Brittany Hadley (Jasper, N.Y./Jasper-Troupsburg) added 14 points with seven rebounds, but Keuka (0-2) trailed 27-15 at halftime and shot only 22.7 percent (15 of 66) against the Leopards (1-1) in the third-place game.
Senior Amanda Kubitz (Spencerport, N.Y./E.J. Wilson) added 10 rebounds, including six offensive boards, with four points, while sophomore Samantha Blum (Niskayuna, N.Y./Colonie) snared a career-high 10 rebounds to go with four points for the Green and Gold.
Wentworth led from start to finish, scoring the game's first 11 points and leading 17-3 with 8:34 remaining in the first half.
Keuka trailed 27-15 at halftime, and 37-18 with 14:28 remaining. The Wolfpack then went on a 20-11 run to pull within 48-38 on a layup from Hadley with 5:57 left in the half.
Stuart scored five straight points and pulled Keuka within 52-43 on a layup with 3:10 remaining, but Wentworth made six of eight free throws to clinch the win.
Keuka outrebounded Wentworth 50-30.
The Green and Gold will travel to Alfred University for a 6 p.m. non-conference clash Friday night, before traveling to RIT for a 6 p.m. non-conference clash Nov. 24.
