Senior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) scored 13 points and added four steals and freshman Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, NY/Tupper Lake) added 11 points, but the Keuka College women's basketball team suffered a 60-46 loss to Penn State-Berks Friday night inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.

Senior Taylor Szwec (Candor, NY/Candor) scored eight points with eight rebounds and classmate Casey Chamberlain (Perry, NY/Perry) totaled 9 rebounds with 4 points and 3 blocks for the Storm (6-5, 5-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference).

Keuka shot just 28.6 percent (16 of 56) while Berks (1-10, 1-4 NEAC) shot 40 percent (24 of 60). Berks also had more assists (15 to 6) and steals (9 to 5) than the Storm.

In a see-saw first half, Keuka trailed 13-7 before going on a 10-2 run. Sophomore Mackenzie Cole (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg Free Academy) made a pair of free throws, Gravel swished back-to-back '3s' and junior Brittany Hadley (Jasper, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) hit a jumper as the Storm took a 17-15 lead nine minutes in.

But Berks closed the half on an 18-8 run and led 35-23 at halftime. The Nittany Lions extended their lead to 39-29 on a layup from Shanelle Koch with 11:41 remaining, but Stuart scored six straight points and Hadley added a free throw to pull the Green and Gold within 39-36 with 7:56 remaining.

After a Szwec layup made the score 42-38 Berks with six minutes to play, the Nittany Lions went on an 11-0 run and never relinquished the lead.

Koch finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Khadijah Robinson added 12 points and 14 rebounds and Kellie Wilson had 15 points for the Nittany Lions.

Gravel continues to climb Keuka's all-time scoring list. With her effort against Berks, the two-time first-team All-NEAC guard needs 13 points to become the 12th student-athlete in school history to surpass 1,000 career points.

The Green and Gold travel to SUNY Cobleskill for a 7 p.m. NEAC clash Wednesday night before returning home to play Morrisville State at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.
