Softball Senior Salute: Jessie Hammers

Name: Jessie Hammers

Hometown/High School: Wayland, NY / Wayland-Cohocton

Bio  |  Career Stats

Major: Occupational Therapy

Plans for next year: I am planning to come back for my masters in occupational therapy this Fall. After I graduate I would like to find a job around my hometown.

Career goal: Somewhere in mental health or in a day rehabilitation for people with special needs

Favorite memory with the team: One of my favorite memories is bus rides with Barb.

Other activities at Keuka College: SAAC, Students Helping Students, Intramural referee

What advice would give to freshmen on the team: Be a sponge and soak up everything our coaches tell you. They know what they're talking about and it will help you become a better player. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions!

What would you tell someone looking at Keuka College: If you are looking for a small college where you pretty much know everyone, Keuka is the place you want to be. We really are community and everyone looks out for one another here.

What does it mean to be a part of the #KCFamily: It certainly makes me feel proud to be a part of the #KCFamily. To me it means getting involved and doing your part to leave your mark at Keuka whether that be playing on a sports team or being in a club or choosing to take a class that is out of your comfort zone. I think everyone plays a role in the Keuka family in one way or another.

From Coach Burke: Jessie's stats speak for themselves.  Because of her speed, she has proved to be one of the best offensive threats to have ever put on the green and gold uniform.  What impresses me the most by Jessie is her work ethic and willingness to improve her skills.  Jessie really worked on her defensive game every year to truly make her an all around player.

A message from Jessie: I really want to thank Coach & Mr. Coach for taking the time to work with me individually to improve my skills on the field and for being there to just talk to off the field as well. I also want to thank all of the teammates who have become my family & have had lasting memories these past 3 years.

Our seniors had their Keuka College spring season cut short because of the global pandemic. Over the next several weeks we will take the opportunity to thank and honor each of these seniors who demonstrated such strength, dedication and support to their sport, to Keuka College Athletics and throughout their time at Keuka College. We are so proud to have them as part of our #KCFamily and we can't wait to see what they do next!  #gratitudeforKCSeniors2020
