CULVER CITY, Calif.— The Keuka College Softball team had one player recognized by Fastpitch News as a Preseason All-American for the first time in school history. Sophomore Jessie Hammers was named a First Team selection for the upcoming 2018 season.
Hammers amassed 52 hits last season, breaking the single-season record at Keuka College, previously held by Sara James. Hammers finished the 2017 season with a .536 batting average, which set a new Keuka College record and ranked as the fourth highest batting average in the nation. She also led the North Eastern Athletic Conference in on-base percentage and stolen bases. Hammers was selected as Second Team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association following the 2017 season as well as Second Team Offensive All-American by Fastpitch News. Among her other accolades, the NEAC coaches named Jessie Hammers as the North Division Player and Rookie of the Year.
Keuka College begins preseason next week as they prepare for their opening weekend in Virginia Beach. The Wolves will open on March 9 against Randolph-Macon and Frostburg State.
