CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team was eliminated from the Cortland Regional of the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament on Saturday following a 9-1 loss to Castleton University.

Keuka College finished their 2016 season with a 19-14 record.

The Spartans got out to a quick lead over Keuka College. They took advantage of two Keuka errors and hit a first inning grand slam to lead 5-0 after one inning.

The Green and Gold were able to threaten in the second inning after Castleton added a run in the top of the frame. Allyson Muller and Alysha Bachman singled to put runners on the corners with one out. Castleton was able to work out of the jam, however, keeping Keuka off the scoreboard.

Keuka broke through in the third inning. A two out rally by the Green and Gold saw Mackenzie Cole, Mickenzie Palmer, Katelyn Warren, and Allyson Muller plated a run and loaded the bases for Keuka. The single to right field by Warren drove in the run in the inning. Keuka College trailed 6-1 after three innings.

Castleton University added two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth for the 9-1 lead. They held the Green and Gold off the scoreboard for the final two innings to end the game in a 9-1 Spartans victory in five innings.
