Play Suspended in 8th Inning between PSU-Berks and Keuka College

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Following seven innings of play, the umpires and coaches determined to suspend play due to darkness with the game entering extra innings at a 2-2 tie.

Play will resume on Sunday at 9am at Keuka College as a part of the 2016 North Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament.

Keuka College got out to a fast start against the Nittany Lions. Samantha Blum led off the bottom of the first inning with a double down the left field line. Keuka would put runners on in the inning. Blum was thrown out at home, but Allyson Muller hit an RBI single to right field in the next at bat, scoring Mickenzie Palmer for the 1-0 lead.

Mackenzie Cole led the third inning off with a bunt single and advanced to second when the ball was thrown down the right field line. Mickenzie Palmer singled to center to score Cole and give the Green and Gold a 2-0 advantage.

Penn St.-Berks came through with a two out, two run single to right centerfield to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the seventh. Keuka would put a runner on, but was unable to score, sending the game to extra innings before it was suspended.
