KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team dropped the opening game 2-1 to Penn College on Saturday, but bounced back to win the second game 6-1 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader.
Keuka College (16-10, 14-4) will conclude their NEAC schedule on Sunday, travelling to SUNY Poly to face the Wildcats in a conference doubleheader.
Penn College got a pair of runs on a walk and three hits in the third inning to take the lead back, 2-1.
Keuka was able to put the tying run on base in every inning but the seventh, but they were unable to get the run across the plate as they fell to Penn College 2-1 in the opening game.
Once again, the Green and Gold got on the board first against Penn College. Mickenzie Palmer led the third inning off with a double. Katelyn Warren walked and Allyson Muller was hit by the pitch to load the bases with no outs. Freshman Janessa Vaadi singled home a run and a second came in on a throwing error by the Wildcats. Jessica Parmiter followed that with a two-run single for a 4-0 lead.
Keuka College added two more runs in the fourth. It was started again by a double by Palmer. She moved to third on a single by Warren. Allyson Muller followed it with a two-run single to centerfield to give Keuka the 6-0 advantage.
Penn College pushed an unearned run across in the fifth inning, but starting pitcher Brianna Bush held the scoring there. She threw a complete game, allowing just four hits, in Keuka's 6-1 victory over Penn College.
