KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team defeated the SUNY Poly Wildcats in a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference games on Saturday.
The Green and Gold won the opening game 3-2 and shutout the Wildcats in the second 3-0.
Keuka College (6-6, 4-0 NEAC) will remain at home on Sunday as they host SUNY Cobleskill in an NEAC doubleheader.
SUNY Poly jumped to the early lead on Keuka. They got an unearned run in the first and third innings off of starting pitcher Liz Warren. The Wildcats led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning.
With two outs in the fifth, Tally McDonald extended the inning with a single. Mackenzie Cole followed that up with a bunt single to put two runners on for Keuka with two outs. Samantha Blum came to the plate and hit a 0-2 pitch into left field. Blum showed off her speed as it became a three-run inside the park homerun, giving Keuka a 3-2 lead.
Liz Warren made the lead stand as she pitched the complete game to earn her fourth victory of the season as Keuka defeated SUNY Poly 3-2.
The Green and Gold got on the board early in Game 2. Blum singled for Keuka and promptly stole second. She moved to third on a single by Allyson Muller and scored on a wild pitch for the early 1-0 advantage.
Keuka got back on the board in the third as Muller singled home Tally McDonald. Jessica Parmiter added an RBI single in the sixth to give Keuka a 3-0 lead.
That lead was more than enough for starting pitcher Brianna Bush. The junior allowed just four hits and struck out three in earning the complete game victory.
