The Keuka College softball team concluded the home portion of the 2015 schedule with a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader sweep of SUNY Polytechnic Saturday afternoon.
The Wolfpack (14-6, 14-4 NEAC) won by scores of 2-1 and 8-2 to remain in the hunt for the NEAC North regular season championship.
Keuka has two conference games remaining, traveling to SUNY Poly Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
The NEAC championship runs May 1-3 at the NEAC South champion.
Junior Ally Muller (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) hit a walkoff, RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to spark the Wolfpack to the win in the opener.
Sophomore Tally McDonald (Romulus, N.Y./Romulus) launched a three-run home run as part of a six-run third as the Green and Gold completed the sweep.
In the opener, junior Liz Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) allowed an unearned run on four hits while striking out five with no walks in the complete-game win to run her record to 8-2.
Junior Jessica Parmiter (Cortland, N.Y./Homer) added an RBI single in support of Warren.
Muller was 3-for-4 in the opener, while freshman Katelyn Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) was 2-for-3 with a run scored in game one.
The game was a pitchers' duel, as the two schools combined for three runs on 12 hits in the opener.
Neither team scored until the Green and Gold broke through in the bottom of the fourth. Katelyn Warren led off with a single, and after a flyout, Liz Warren singled to put runners on the corners. Parmiter plated Katelyn Warren with her RBI single to right field for a 1-0 lead.
Poly had runners at second and third with two outs in the fifth, but Warren escaped the jam, getting Angela Barrett to strikeout to end the inning.
The Wildcats (10-14, 8-6) pulled even on an unearned run in the sixth. Keuka and SUNY Poly each were retired in order in their at-bats, setting the stage for Muller's walkoff hit.
With two outs, Muller singled up the middle, scoring Wright with the game-winning run.
The Green and Gold jumped out to an 8-0 lead early in the nightcap. Muller had an RBI groundout, and junior Mackenzie Cole (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) scored on a wild pitch as Keuka took a 2-0 lead into the second.
The Wolfpack seized control for good thanks to a six-run outburst in the third. Muller and Katelyn Warren each singled to start the inning, and freshman Mickenzie Palmer (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) extended the lead to 3-0 with an RBI single to left field.
Parmiter plated Warren and Palmer with a two-run double to left field, then freshman Maddie Dupuis (Cohoes, N.Y./Cohoes) dropped a single into right field, putting runners at the corners.
McDonald then cleared the bases with her three-run home run over the left field fence for an 8-0 lead.
Poly got two runs back in the top of the fifth, but sophomore Brianna Bush (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) closed out the Wildcats to improve to 6-4.
Bush, the reigning NEAC Pitcher of the Week, allowed two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and only one walk to earn the win.
