Junior Liz Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) was 3-for-3 with three RBI and tossed a complete-game five-hitter to help Keuka College softball coach Jamie Burke earn her 200th career win at Keuka College.
The Wolfpack (8-4, 8-2 NEAC) ran their winning streak to six after sweeping the Wildcats (7-14, 4-7) by scores of 6-1 and 10-0 Thursday afternoon in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader in Cazenovia, N.Y.
Warren had a pair of RBI doubles and smacked a solo home run in the sixth inning to provide much of the offense in the opener. She also improved her record to 5-1 with another dominant win on the mound.
Sophomore Samantha Blum (Niskayuna, N.Y./Colonie) was 3-for-4 with a double in the opener as the Wolfpack sent Burke, the program's winningest coach, into the 200-win club.
"I've been very fortunate to coach some great student-athletes at Keuka College who have brought talent to our program, and have also developed their skills as softball players," said Burke, who has amassed a 201-89-1 record in 10 seasons coaching in Keuka Park with NCAA appearances in six straight seasons from 2007-2012.
"These wins aren't possible without the numerous student-athletes who have put on the Green and Gold uniform and represented Keuka so well during my coaching career."
Warren allowed one unearned run and struck out six with no walks in the first game. Juniors Mackenzie Cole (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) and Ally Muller (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) each added RBI for the Wolfpack.
On the heels of her first collegiate no-hitter, sophomore Brianna Bush (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) followed up with a dominant one-hitter as the Green and Gold completed the sweep of the Wildcats with a five-inning, mercy rule triumph in the nightcap.
Bush struck out three and issued one walk in earning her third straight win.
Muller was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, junior Jessica Parmiter (Cortland, N.Y./Homer) was 1-for-1 with a walk and an RBI, and freshman Maddie Dupuis (Cohoes, N.Y./Cohoes) was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Freshman Mickenzie Palmer (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) was 2-for-2 with an RBI, Cole was 1-for-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly, and Blum was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Sophomore Tally McDonald (Romulus, N.Y./Romulus) was 1-for-3 with an RBI single, while classmate Brianna Long (Arkport, N.Y./Dansville) was 1-for-2 with an RBI as Keuka erupted for a six-run first inning.
Bush allowed a leadoff walk, then retired the side on three groundouts to start the game. She retired eight straight batters before Brianna Turner hit a two-out single in the third for Cazenovia's lone hit.
The Wolfpack led 8-0 heading into the bottom of the second and tacked on a pair of runs in the third on a Palmer single and a Dupuis groundout as the Wolfpack finished the regular season with a 3-1 record against Cazenovia. With the sweep, Keuka remains in sole possession of second place in the NEAC North division.
Keuka travels to Penn College of Technology Saturday afternoon for a NEAC doubleheader. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
