Sophomore Brianna Bush (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) tossed her first career no-hitter and struck out seven batters as the Keuka College softball team earned a sweep of Wednesday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader with Morrisville State.
Keuka (6-4, 6-2 NEAC) ran its winning streak to four after earning a pair of five-inning wins. The Wolfpack won 12-1 and 11-0 in a pair of mercy rule contests.
In the first game, sophomore Samantha Blum (Niskayuna, N.Y./Colonie) drove in three runs and had a solo home run, finishing 2-for-3 with four runs scored.
Freshman Katelyn Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) was 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs scored, and junior sister Liz Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) allowed one run on eight hits with eight strikeouts and no walks to improve to 4-1.
Freshman Maddie Dupuis (Cohoes, N.Y./Cohoes) drove in two runs, and junior Mackenzie Cole (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored as Keuka jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings.
Warren and Dupuis each had two-run singles in the first, Blum added a two-run single and Warren had a two-run double in the second, and freshman Mickenzie Palmer (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) added an RBI single to cap a five-run second.
Junior Jessica Parmiter (Cortland, N.Y./Homer) had an RBI single as part of a two-run third, and Blum drilled a solo home run in the fourth to give the Wolfpack a 12-0 lead en route to the win.
Cole and Blum were each 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Cole scored three times and Blum scored twice in game two. Parmiter was 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Wolfpack pounded out 14 hits in five innings to complete the sweep.
Blum and Warren had RBI singles in the first, and Cole and Palmer had RBI singles and Warren delivered a two-run single in the fourth as Keuka took a 6-0 lead into the fifth.
Wilbur had a two-run single and Prince added a two-run double to push the lead to 10-0. Parmiter capped the scoring with an RBI single as the Wolfpack finished the regular season with a 3-1 record against the Mustangs (5-16, 2-11).
Bush struck out two batters in the first, struck out the side in the third, and only a leadoff walk to start the fifth came between Bush and a perfect game.
Keuka travels to Cazenovia College Thursday afternoon for a NEAC doubleheader. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
