The Keuka College softball team opened the 2015 season by splitting a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader with Cazenovia College Friday at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury, N.Y.

Keuka (1-1, 1-1 NEAC) rallied for a 10-3 win over the Wildcats (4-8, 1-1) in the opener, before falling 9-8 in the second game.

Freshman Katelyn Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) was 3-for-4 with four RBI, while junior Ally Muller (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) and sophomore Sam Blum (Niskayuna, N.Y./Colonie) each added three hits with an RBI in the opener.

Junior Liz Warren (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) earned the win, striking out four with no walks in the complete-game win.

Muller drove in Blum on an RBI single to center field in the bottom of the first, but Cazenovia pushed across three runs in the third inning to lead 3-1.

The Green and Gold pulled even in the fourth. Warren crushed a two-run home run over the fence in right-center field to knot the score, and Blum put Keuka up for good with a two-run single into center field as part of a five-run fifth.

Blum scored on an error for a 6-3 lead, and Warren and freshman Maddie Dupuis (Cohoes, N.Y./Cohoes) each added RBI singles as the Wolfpack took an 8-3 lead into the sixth.

The Wolfpack added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Warren's single dropped into left field and plated Muller and Blum to finish the scoring as Keuka emerged victorious in its opener.

Muller and Blum scored three times in the opener, while junior Mackenzie Cole (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in game one.

Liz Warren allowed three runs on five hits in the win.

In game two, Cazenovia scored four first-inning runs, but Keuka sliced the lead in half as Katelyn Warren had an RBI double and classmate Mickenzie Palmer (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) added an RBI groundout as Keuka trailed 4-2 heading to the second.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the second and added two more in the third for an 8-2 lead, but the Wolfpack clawed back into the game when Muller clubbed a three-run home run in the fourth.

With two outs, Cole singled and Blum doubled to put runners on second and third. Muller then delivered the big shot, a three-run home run that sailed over the center field fence to pull Keuka within 8-5.

Cazenovia extended its lead to 9-5 with an unearned run in the fifth, but Keuka got the run back in the bottom of the inning on Blum's RBI single.

In the seventh, junior Jessica Parmiter (Cortland, N.Y./Homer) hit a one-out single, and following a strikeout, Blum's double to right center field put runners on second and third with two outs.

Muller singled to center field to score Blum and freshman pinch-runner Megan Wilbur (Waverly, N.Y./Waverly) to pull Keuka within 9-8. Warren singled to put runners on first and second with two outs, but Cazenovia got a line out to end the game.

Sophomore Brianna Bush (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) took the loss, allowing nine runs (six earned) on 10 hits with three strikeouts in a complete game.

Muller finished with five RBI, while Blum was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and Warren was 4-for-4 with an RBI in the second game. Cole was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Palmer and sophomore Alysha Bachman (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse) each had two hits in the loss for Keuka.
