NEAC Tabs Emmett O’Brien as Defensive Player of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. — For the second week in a row, the Keuka College Men's Volleyball team member was honored by the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Senior Emmett O'Brien was named NEAC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

O'Brien was named NEAC Defensive Player of the Week after freshman Solomon Shabazz was named last week.

O'Brien helped the Wolves to a 2-0 week, extending their winning streak to four matches. Emmett O'Brien opened the weekend with a five block performance against SUNY Poly. It tied the season-high for the senior. He backed that up with three more blocks as the Wolves swept the College of St. Elizabeth on Sunday.

For the season, O'Brien has recorded a block in every match for Keuka College. His 24 blocks on the seasons leads the Wolves. With the eight blocks against conference opponents, he leads the NEAC for total blocks in conference games. O'Brien also ranks in the top five in the conference in blocks per set.

The Wolves will face Medaille College on Friday night in a non-conference match at home. Keuka will then return to North Eastern Athletic Conference play with matches against SUNY Potsdam and nationally-ranked Wells College on Saturday at Wells.
