GANSEVOORT, N.Y. — Keuka College sophomore libero Seth Welker was named North Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Welker led a defensive effort as the Wolves swept all five matches in the Keuka College Invitational. Overall, the Wolves only dropped three of the 18 sets played over the weekend. He had strong performances with 15 digs against John Jay on Friday night. He then backed that with 10 digs on Saturday against New Jersey City. Welker then closed the tournament with 16 digs in a three-set sweep of John Jay on Sunday. It tied for the fourth most digs in a three-set match in program history.
On the season, Welker ranks second in the North Eastern Athletic Conference with 2.93 digs per set.
The Wolves return to NEAC play on Wednesday as Keuka College travels to SUNY Poly to face the Wildcats. The Green and Gold will then play a pair of road games in Buffalo over the weekend, playing at D'Youville and Medaille College.
