Men’s Volleyball Drops Home Opener to Wells

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Volleyball team lost their home opener in straight sets to Wells College on Thursday in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.

Keuka College (3-4, 1-1 NEAC) was led by JP Nery with eight kills. Gavin Record had five kills and nine digs while Kamren Record added 20 assists.

Wells College 3 at Keuka College 0 – 25-14, 25-13, 25-15

The Express took the first set over the Wolves with an efficient offensive attack. Wells College had 12 kills in the set against just one error as they took the opener 25-14.

Wells College used a 6-0 run midway through the second to create separation over the Wolves. The Express took a 2-0 lead in the match, winning the second set 25-13.

The Wolves fought to extend the match in the third set. The two teams traded points early on with Keuka getting back-to-back tallies, tying the set at 10-10. The Express would score eight of the next nine points, however, as they built a lead. The Wolves got it back to a four-point game at 19-15 following a kill by Nery, but Wells scored the final six points to win the third set 25-15 and sweep the match.

  • The Wolves are now 3-4 in home openers and Keuka levels its all-time record on Valentine's Day at 2-2

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves return to action next Wednesday as they host Elmira College at 7pm at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center. Keuka College lost to the Soaring Eagles in Elmira in straight sets last season.
