Nick Cantando Earns NEAC Defensive Player of the Year

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. — Keuka College seniors Nick Cantando and Connor Gail were named All-North Eastern Athletic Conference on Wednesday, as voted by the conference coaches. In addition, Nick Cantando was named the 2018 Defensive Player of the Year.

Nick Cantando had a standout season in his senior year at Keuka College. He finished the season with 241 digs, ranking second in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. He also ranked third in the NEAC with 2.87 digs per set. His 241 digs was the fourth most in a single season in program history. For his career, Cantando amassed 443 digs while at Keuka College, ranking fifth on the career list. Nick Cantando joins Cooper Lyon as the only two NEAC Defensive Players of the Year from Keuka College. Cantando was also named Second Team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference for his play throughout the season.

For the third time in his career, Keuka College senior Connor Gail was named Third Team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference. Gail had 253 kills and 3.12 kills per set on the season, ranking fifth in the conference in each category. During the season, Connor Gail passed Tom Campbell for the second most kills ever at Keuka College. He finished with 675 kills over his four seasons at Keuka. Connor Gail also became just the second Keuka College player ever to be named to the all-conference team three times.

The Keuka College Men's Volleyball team's season came to an end on Tuesday with a four-set loss at SUNY Poly in the first round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.
