GANSEVOORT, N.Y.— Junior libero Nick Cantando was named North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Cantando helped lead Keuka College to a pair of conference wins this past weekend in their NEAC Crossover. In all three matches over the weekend, Cantando had double-digit digs for the Wolves.
The weekend started with a five-set loss to defending NEAC Champions Medaille College. In that match, Cantando set a new career-high with 21 digs. That also ranked as the third most digs ever by a Keuka College player in a five-set match. He followed that up with 18 digs in a four-set victory over D'Youville and 17 digs in a five-set victory over Hilbert. Both performances also landed Cantando on the top ten lists for digs in a four-set and five-set match.
Nick Cantando ranks third in the North Eastern Athletic Conference with 2.78 digs per set. He has 92 digs in conference play, second most among the NEAC.
Keuka College will remain at home this weekend, hosting the Keuka College Invitational. The Wolves will face Southern Vermont on Friday night. They will then take on Purchase College and Alvernia University on Saturday afternoon.
