KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Volleyball team earned a five set victory over Hilbert College on Sunday to close the North Eastern Athletic Conference Crossover at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Keuka College (4-7, 3-5 NEAC) was led by senior Jared Kucko with 19 kills and 10 digs. Connor Gail added 15 kills and 13 digs on the day for Keuka. Sophomore Christian Nickerson finished with 12 kills for the Wolves. Spencer Avery did an excellent job as the setter for Keuka. The senior finished with a career-high 51 assists. Libero Nick Cantando had a team-high 17 dig and freshman Soham Dave added 12 digs.
Keuka College 3 (23, 25, 25, 19, 15) vs. Hilbert College 2 (25, 18, 17, 25, 12)
Hilbert College was able to create a lead over Keuka early in the first set, leading 7-2. However the Wolves were able to compose themselves and even the score at 8-8. Hilbert would go on to win the first set 25-23. The Wolves would exact their revenge in the second set beating the Hawks 25-18. Keuka took control of the third set early going up 12-6; a lead they would not relinquish, winning the set 25-17. The Hawks battled to force a fifth set, winning the fourth 25-19. The Wolves playing in their second five set match of the weekend and would fall behind 5-2 early. But Keuka would even the score at 7-7 before taking the lead. The Wolves would go on to win the final set 15-12 and the match 3-2
Spreading the Love: Senior Spencer Avery did a great job of facilitating the Keuka College offense all weekend. He had 51 in today's match against Hilbert giving the senior 133 over the three-game weekend. Avery is third on the all-time Keuka College assists list with 688 over his four-year career.
- Keuka College improved to 7-1 all-time against Hilbert College, and 6-0 in NEAC play against the Hawks
- Spencer Avery broke the all-time record for assists in a five set match with 51
- Avery's performance was also the most ever in any match at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center for Keuka College
- The Green and Gold totaled 60 kills in the win. It was the second most kills in Keuka College history in any match
Coming up for Keuka College: Keuka College will play host to the Keuka College Invitational next weekend. The Wolves will host Southern Vermont on Saturday and Purchase and Alvernia on Saturday at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
