MARCY, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Volleyball team lost a pair of matches on Saturday. Keuka (2-3, 1-2 NEAC) fell to Penn St.-Altoona and Lancaster Bible in straight sets to finish the North Eastern Athletic Conference Crossover at SUNY Poly
Connor Gail combined for 20 kills over the two matches for the Wolves, averaging 3.3 kills per set. Jared Kucko added a combined 12 kills for the Wolves. Junior Chris Corcoran totaled 53 assists on the day for Keuka.
Match 1: Keuka College 0 (22, 11, 22) vs. Penn St.-Altoona 3 (25, 25, 25)
Keuka College opened with a strong attack against the Penn St.-Altoona. They totaled 15 kills in the set against just six errors, but it was not enough as Altoona pulled out the first set 25-22. The Nittany Lions controlled the second set while Keuka had more errors than kills. Keuka would lose the second set 25-11. The third set was closely played between the two teams, but Altoona was able to pull it out in the end, winning the third set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
Lead Wolf: Jared Kucko continued his strong start to the season. He led Keuka College in the first match with nine kills in the loss.
Match 2: Keuka College 0 (21, 24, 21) vs. Lancaster Bible 3 (25, 26, 25)
The Wolves once again had a very efficient opening set. They had 12 kills and just four errors, hitting .242. However Lancaster Bible had the answer and took the opening set 25-21. The second was another tight set, but it fell the way of the Chargers 26-24. Lancaster Bible would complete the sweep, winning the third set 25-21 over the Wovles.
Lead Wolf: Connor Gail led Keuka College on Saturday with 12 kills. He committed just 2 errors in the match, hitting a team-best .357. Gail also added an ace and five digs in the loss.
- Keuka College is now 3-4 all-time against Penn St.-Altoona
- The Wolves had a four-match win streak against Lancaster Bible College snapped on Saturday, but Keuka College still leads the all-time series 6-4
Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves will return to Marcy, N.Y. and SUNY Poly on Thursday, February 9 as Keuka will face the Wildcats in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match at 7pm.
