MARCY, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Volleyball defeated both Hilbert College and D'Youville College on Saturday in a pair of North Easter Athletic Conference matches played at SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
Keuka College (11-7, 6-4 NEAC) will conclude their conference weekend on Sunday, taking on conference-leading Medaille College.
In the opening match against the Hawks, Keuka got out to an early lead, taking the first set 25-18. In the second set, they amassed 16 kills, guiding them to 25-20 set victory. Errors played a key roll in the third and final stat. Keuka committed only two attacking errors compared to nine by Hilbert. The Green and Gold took the final set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
Connor Gail led the Keuka attack against Hilbert with 12 kills. Connor Hinman and Aaron Brill each had six kills and Tim Jackson finished with five kills and no errors in 12 attempts. He led Keuka with a .417 hitting percentage. Helping lead the offensive attack was Chris Corcoran, who had a team-high 23 assists.
The second match over the day against D'Youville was a back and forth affair. It was only the second time this season that Keuka had gone the full five sets. The Green and Gold took the opening set 25-19, but D'Youville responded, winning the second 25-20. Even though the Spartans had 18 kills in the third, Keuka was able to pull it out 26-24. After D'Youville won the fourth 25-18 to extend the match, Keuka closed out the fifth 15-13 for the 3-2 victory.
Leading the offense for the Green and Gold was Connor Hinman. The senior had a team-high 16 kills. Also in double figures was Aaron Brill with 11 kills. Brill also added three aces in the match. Spencer Avery had 19 assists to lead Keuka while Chris Corcoran had 18. Senior libero Cooper Lyon finished with 12 digs in the win for Keuka.
