Men’s Volleyball Falls at Nationally Ranked Nazareth

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Volleyball team lost to #5 ranked Nazareth College in straight sets on Wednesday evening.

Keuka College (3-2) will have the next week off before opening North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Green and Gold will face Medaille, Hilbert and D'Youville in a conference crossover weekend hosted by Medaille College.

Connor Hinman led Keuka with 14 kills. The senior added a pair of aces. Colin Steele added seven kills in the loss. Spencer Avery had a team-high 17 assists.

Nazareth came out strong in their first home match of the season against Keuka. They took an early lead over the Green and Gold and went on to the 25-17 victory.

In the second set, Keuka was the one the held the advantage. Multiple times in the set the Green and Gold led, but the Golden Flyers did not go away. They answered every run by Keuka and ended up winning the second set 25-20 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Nazareth took the early lead in the third, but Keuka rallied to tie the game on multiple serves by Colin Steele. The set bounced back and forth with the teams trading points. Steele tipped the ball into a hole in the Nazareth defense to give Keuka a 16-15 lead, but Nazareth scored the next six points to take control of the set. Keuka rallied to tie the game at 23-23 following a Hinman ace, but Nazareth closed out the set 25-23, taking the match 3-0.
