Men’s Volleyball Caps Season With Sweep

Junior Connor Hinman (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) recorded 17 kills with 11 digs and 6 blocks, and freshman Aaron Brill (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes) added nine kills as the Keuka College men's volleyball team concluded the season with a home sweep of New Jersey City University Friday.

Keuka (16-9), which set a program record for wins in a season, swept New Jersey City (17-11) by scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-23 inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.

It was Hinman's fifth double-double of the year as Keuka earned its 10th sweep.

Freshman Tim Jackson (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) added seven kills with two blocks, Brill added three blocks and two digs, and freshman Chris Corcoran (Big Flats, N.Y./Horseheads) handed out 30 assists with 4 digs and 2 blocks as the Wolfpack improved to 8-2 at home.

Junior Cooper Lyon (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) had 10 digs, classmate Josh Makin (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) added five blocks, and junior Tom Campbell (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) had four blocks with two digs for the Green and Gold.

Keuka led 5-0 in the first set and never trailed in taking the opener. Leading 19-13, the Wolfpack won six of the last seven points to take the first set.

The second set was tied at 14 before Hinman had three kills and Brill added a kill for an 18-14 lead. Tied at 22, Jackson had two kills in the final three points to stake Keuka to a 2-0 lead.

In the third set, the two schools were knotted at 15 until Brill had a kill and an ace and Hinman hammered home a kill for an 18-15 lead.

The Gothic Knights responded with a 6-0 run and led 21-18, causing Keuka to call timeout. Hinman had two kills to help the Wolfpack claw within 22-21, but New Jersey City led 23-21 after a Keuka attack error.

The Wolfpack won the next four points to pull out the win in their last game of the season.

New Jersey City was led by Daque Wilcox (eight kills, four digs) and Sheldon Coure (eight kills, five blocks).
