Men’s Volleyball Goes 0-2 at NEAC Crossover

The Keuka College men's volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks during the fourth North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover competition Saturday afternoon in Lancaster, Pa.

Keuka fell to Wells College in four sets, losing the first set 25-19 before fighting back and winning the second 25-22. But the Green and Gold lost the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-22.

Taking on defending NEAC champion SUNY Polytechnic, the Green and Gold were swept 25-13, 25-23 and 25-21 to fall to 13-8, 6-5 in NEAC play.

Freshman Aaron Brill (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes) recorded back-to-back matches with 10 or more kills on the day.

Against Wells, Brill logged 11 kills with seven digs, and hit .333 after making four errors in 21 attacks.

Junior Connor Hinman (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) added 8 kills with 5 digs, 2 aces and 2 blocks, and classmate Tom Campbell (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) had 7 kills with 7 digs and 4 blocks in the loss.

Freshman Tim Jackson (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) recorded five kills, junior Josh Makin (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) added 4 kills with 4 digs, 2 blocks and 2 aces, and freshman Chris Corcoran (Big Flats, N.Y./Horseheads) handed out 27 assists with 6 digs and 2 kills for the Wolfpack.

Junior Cooper Lyon (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) finished with 14 digs for Keuka.

Wells (10-16, 7-5) was led by Brannon Perdicho (13 kills, nine digs) and John Farruggia (13 kills, 5 digs, 3 blocks). The Express hit .289 (52 kills, 17 errors in 121 attacks) to earn the four-set win.

Taking on SUNY Poly, Brill had 10 kills with two digs, Hinman added 7 kills with 5 digs and 3 aces, and Campbell recorded 7 kills with 3 aces and 2 blocks for the Green and Gold.

Brill hit .333 with three errors in 21 attacks. Sophomore Spencer Avery (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) had 16 assists with four digs, Makin had four blocks with two kills, Jackson added three blocks, and Corcoran had seven assists with five digs in the sweep.

SUNY Poly (14-10, 7-6) was led by A.J. Davids (12 kills, seven digs) and Bobby Nilsen (11 kills). The Wildcats hit .342 (38 kills, 11 errors in 79 attacks) to earn the victory.

The Green and Gold travel to Buffalo for the fifth and final NEAC crossover Saturday and Sunday. Keuka plays D'Youville College at 2 p.m. and Hilbert College at 8 p.m. Saturday, and Medaille College at 1 p.m. Sunday in the NEAC finale.
