Men’s Volleyball Drops Two at SUNYIT Invitational

The Keuka College men's volleyball team won its first set of the year but dropped both of its matches during Saturday's SUNYIT Invitational in Marcy, N.Y.

The Storm (0-5) fell to Southern Vermont by scores of 15-25, 24-26, 25-21 and 25-22 before being swept by SUNYIT 25-20, 25-15 and 25-22.

Sophomore Connor Hinman (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) recorded his first double-double of the year in the loss to Southern Vermont, recording team-highs in kills (13) and digs (17) while adding three total blocks.

Sophomore Tom Campbell (Penfield, NY/Penfield) added 11 kills with 6 digs, 5 blocks and 3 assists and classmate Josh Makin (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) tallied 7 kills with 5 digs, 4 blocks and 4 assists for the Green and Gold.

Freshman John Sprague (Fairport, NY/Penfield) added 20 assists and 10 digs, junior Devin Lesch (San Diego, CA/El Cajon Valley) had 11 total blocks and five kills and classmate Ryan Kelly (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) recorded 13 assists with eight digs in the loss.

Sophomore Aaron Rydzynski (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) added 4 kills with 3 blocks and 2 digs for the Storm, who recorded 28 total blocks.

Facing SUNYIT, Hinman had six kills with five digs, Campbell had eight digs and five kills and Lesch recorded four kills with three total blocks in the sweep.

Sprague added a team-high 10 assists with two digs and freshman Jared Kucko (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) tallied three kills and two digs in the loss.

Keuka, which in the program's first season captured the North Eastern Athletic Conference's (NEAC) postseason championship in 2013, hosts the first of two Keuka Invitationals this Friday and Saturday.

The Storm will play the Sage Colleges at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by Penn State-Altoona at 11 a.m. and Wells College at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
