Men’s Soccer Falls in NEAC Opener

COBLESKILL, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Soccer team lost their first conference game of the year on Saturday, falling at SUNY Cobleskill 2-1.

Keuka College (0-4-1, 0-1 NEAC) got a goal from defender Claude Tuyishimire. Freshman Stephen Cowulich made nine saves in goal for the Wolves.

In the first half, SUNY Cobleskill had the advantage in shots and corner kicks, but it was the Wolves who had the advantage on the scoreboard. In the 14th minute, Abdikarim Maalo sent a corner kick to the back post. The senior found the head of fellow senior Claude Tuyishimire who nodded it in for the 1-0 advantage.

The Fighting Tigers increased the pressure in the second half. SUNY Cobleskill had 12 shots in the second half alone. In the 65th minute, a shot from just outside the box went into the top of the Keuka goal to level the game. Minutes later, the Fighting Tigers took the lead off of a free kick. SUNY Cobleskill would hold on for the 2-1 victory over Keuka.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves return home on Wednesday for a non-conference game. Keuka College hosts Alfred University at 7pm at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
