Men’s Soccer Falls to Morrisville 4-2

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Soccer team fell at home on Wednesday night at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex to the Morrisville State Mustangs by the score of 4-2.

Keuka College (2-5, 1-1 NEAC) received goals from freshmen Jared Burns and Samba Doukhansy. Christopher Spaulding made seven saves in goal for the Wolves

Both teams got good chances on goal early on Wednesday. In the 7th minute, Humberto Flores let a shot go that rattled off the cross bar. Minutes later, Christopher Spaulding was called on to make a leaping save, tipping the ball over the goal. In the 21st minute, the Green and Gold struck for a goal as Jared Burns registered his second of the season. Morrisville followed that with a goal of their own as the game was tied 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, the Mustangs netted a pair of goals within two minutes of each other to take a 3-1 lead. Morrisville added another tally in the 75th minute. The Wolves got one back in the 77th as Samba Doukhansy scored his second of the season, but that would be the final goal for either team as Morrisville State held on for the 4-2 victory.

  • The Mustangs have won the last seven meetings with the Wolves. Overall, Morrisville State leads the all-time series with Keuka College with a 8-5-1 record
  • Burns and Doukhansey join fellow freshman Joshua Card and senior Mike Celestino with two goals this season, tying for the team lead
  • Christopher Spaulding tied his career-high with seven saves in the game
  • Spaulding was also named the North Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his play over the week of September 18

Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves will be on the road this weekend, travelling to Marcy, N.Y. to face the SUNY Poly Wildcats. Keuka College has won three straight against SUNY Poly. The series between the two schools dates back to 1993 and it is tied with each team recording seven victories, seven losses, and three ties.
