KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Paulin Kolodja scored for Keuka College in the 85th minute to give the Wolves a 1-0 victory over Lancaster Bible College in the First Round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.
Keuka College (11-3-3, 8-2-3 NEAC) will advance on to the conference semi-finals where they will face Penn St.-Abington at 7pm. The match will be played at Morrisville State College.
Lancaster Bible College came out and looked to set the tempo early. They controlled possession to open the game and were able to generate a couple shots. Goalkeeper Willie Romero was up to the task, making a pair of saves in goal to keep the game scoreless. The Wolves started to possess the ball more as the half went on, but were unable to generate a shot on goal. Keuka College outshot Lancaster Bible 7-4 in the half and had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks, but the Chargers held the Wolves without a shot on goal, while generating two themselves. The match would go into halftime scoreless.
The Wolves picked up the pressure in the second half. Their best chance to score came in the 58th minute. Rachid Blanken's initial shot was blocked. The ball came to Chris Millard at the edge of the box. He let a shot go off the cross bar and the rebound fell to Paulin Kolodja near the penalty spot. Lancaster Bible's goalie made a diving save on Kolodja's effort to keep the game scoreless. That would change in the 85th minute. Rachid Blanken got the ball to the touch line, right of the goal. He passed to back to Paulin Kolodja on the edge of the six yard box. The senior shot it high to the near side to beat the keeper and propel Keuka College onto the 1-0 victory.
