Big Second Half Lifts Keuka College in Men’s Lacrosse

COBLESKILL, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team outscored hosts SUNY Cobleskill 7-2 in the second half to defeat the Fighting Tigers 14-9 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.

Kasey Olsen led Keuka College (7-3, 3-1 NEAC) with four goals and three assists. Seth Bush scored four goals and added an assist. Also with a five-point game was Mark Shattuck with two goals and three assists.

Keuka College 14 at SUNY Cobleskill 9

The Green and Gold got on the board first as Andrew Burns put the Wolves ahead on the man-up. SUNY Cobleskill responded to take the lead. After Burns scored his second to tie the game, the Fighting Tigers scored a pair to lead 4-2 after the first quarter.

Keuka College tied the game in the first five minutes of the second quarter as Seth Bush netted a pair for the Wolves. SUNY Cobleskill pushed their lead to 7-4, but Keuka closed the half with three straight goals. The game was tied 7-7 at the break.

The Wolves created separation in the third quarter. Keuka College outscored SUNY Cobleskill 5-1 in the frame with Kasey Olsen scoring three of the five as Keuka led 12-8 going to the final quarter.

The lead was pushed to six goals at 14-8 as Keuka College scored the first two of the quarter. SUNY Cobleskill got one back but the Wolves would hold on for the 14-9 conference victory.

  • Mark Shattuck now has 21 assists on the season, setting a new career-high.
  • Jake Carlson won 13 faceoffs for the Wolves. He has 96 this season, moving into eighth on both the Keuka College career and single-season list

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves remain on the road this weekend, travelling to Hilbert College to face the Hawks on Saturday. Keuka College is 9-0 all-time against Hilbert and defeated the Hawks 14-7 last season.
