Keuka College Men’s Lacrosse Tops Utica 15-8

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Wolves scored 12 second half goals as the Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team defeated Utica College on Wednesday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

The trio of Craig Gerhardt, Andrew Burns, and Mark Shattuck combined for 13 goals for Keuka College (3-1). Gerhardt scored six and added an assists. Burns scored four goals and had three assists, and Shattuck had three goals and three assists in the win.

Keuka College 15 vs. Utica College 8

After a scoreless 10 minutes to open the game, Keuka College got on the board first with Craig Gerhardt scoring on the man-up. Utica answered but the Wolves added a pair in the final two minutes to lead 3-1 after the first quarter.

Despite Keuka College going perfect at the faceoff spot in the second quarter, Utica College outscored the Wolves 2-0 in the frame as the game went to halftime tied at 3-3.

The Wolves won the opening faceoff of the second half and went right down the field. Andrew Burns found Craig Gerhardt in front of the net for the goal 12 seconds into the half. That sparked a 4-0 run for the Wolves. Utica snapped the streak, but Keuka responded with a pair of goals. A late Pioneer tally made it 9-5 Keuka going to the fourth quarter.

The Wolves put the game away in the fourth quarter. Keuka College pushed their lead to nine goals with a 5-0 run to start the quarter. Keuka College continued onto the 15-8 victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves take to the road this Saturday for the first of three straight road games. Keuka College will travel to Oswego State to face the Lakers on March 24. Oswego defeated Keuka 11-5 last season.
