KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team earned a 19-5 North Eastern Athletic Conference victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday and the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Mark Shattuck led Keuka College (6-5, 4-2) with a career-high five goals. Craig Gerhardt scored four for the Green and Gold and added three assists in the win. Pat Giardino had a hat trick and Dan Blaessig and Andrew Burns each added two goals for the Wolves.
Keuka College 19 vs. SUNY Cobleskill 5
The Wolves came out of the gate fast, taking a commanding lead. The Wolves scored seven in the first quarter, holding the Fighting Tigers scoreless. Keuka continued to attack in the second. The Wolves got goals from Pat Giardino and Craig Gerhardt in the final 24 seconds of the half. Jacob Wood made three saves in the half as Keuka College led 13-0 at the break. SUNY Cobleskill scored the opening goal of the second half and the two teams matched each other in the quarter. The teams each scored three and the Wolves led 16-3 going into the final quarter. Keuka College outscored SUNY Cobleskill 3-2 in the fourth on their way to the 19-5 conference victory.
Senior Leadership: Senior goalie Jacob Wood got his first start of the season in goal for the Wolves. He stopped each shot against the Keuka goal in his 37 minutes of action. Wood recorded the 12th win of his career and has now tallied 180 saves in his four years at Keuka College.
- Keuka College earned their 10th win against SUNY Cobleskill. The Green and Gold has won every meeting against the Fighting Tigers
- The win was the 150th of Head Coach Jason Paige's career. Paige has a 150-88 record in 19 seasons at Keuka College
- Keuka College has now caused 138 turnovers this season, seventh most in program history
- Dustin Springer collected four groundballs in the game and now has 160 for his career. The senior passed Justin Pecori '08 for fourth all-time
Coming up for Keuka College: Saturday will be the final home game of the regular season for the Men's Lacrosse team. The Wolves will host Morrisville State College on Parents' and Senior Day. Keuka College lost to Morrisville State in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship the last two seasons.
