MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team lost on Saturday in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship to hosts Morrisville State College by the score of 16-11
Keuka College finishes their 2016 season with a 12-3 record.
Andrew Burns led Keuka with four goals on the afternoon. Matt Beebe also had four points on the day with four assists. Brendan King scored three goals for Keuka and Ryan Waldron added a pair. Rounding out the scoring for Keuka was Sam Cooper and Tyler Andrews with a goal.
Morrisville State jumped out to a fast start, scoring the first four goals of the game. Keuka College got on the board on the man-advantage. Matt Beebe found Andrews Burns for the goal. The two reconnected 33 seconds later as the first quarter ended with the Mustangs leading 4-2.
The Mustangs got the first goal of the second quarter, but Keuka had an answer. Brendan King scored a man down less than three minutes into the quarter. At the 11 minute mark of the quarter, Burns and Beebe combined for the third time, making it a one-goal game, 5-4 Morrisville. After the Mustangs got one back, Sam Cooper scored on the man-advantage to make the score 6-5 at halftime.
Brendan King scored for Keuka 28 seconds into the third quarter to tie the game at 6-6. Morrisville took the lead right back. Ryan Waldron scored a pair of goals 19 seconds apart to give Keuka College an 8-7 lead with 10:24 left in the third. The Mustangs netted five unanswered to end the third quarter with a 12-8 advantage.
After Morrisville State scored the opening goal of the fourth, Keuka got goals from Andrew Burns and Tyler Andrews to narrow the margin to 13-10. That will be as close as Keuka would make it as Morrisville outscored Keuka College 3-1 over the final 11 minutes on their way to the 16-11 victory.
