BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team opened North Eastern Athletic Conference play by defeating hosts Medaille College 16-2 on Wednesday.
Keuka College (5-1, 1-0 NEAC) will return to the field in a week as they travel to Bryn Athyn College on Wednesday, April 6.
Jordan Porter-Lemon led Keuka on Wednesday with a career-high four goals against the Mavericks. They were the first goals of the sophomore's career. Andrew Burns also had four points on the day, with three goals and an assist. Zach Dempsey scored two goals for Keuka. Also with a goal on the afternoon was Tyler Skowronski, Robert Brooks, Brendan King, Patrick Giardino, Matt Beebe, Dan Blaessig, and Chad Strauss. Freshman goalie Kyle Andrake improved to 3-0 on the season, turning away all four shots he faced in the first half.
Keuka College came out strong against Medaille. Burns scored the first goal for Keuka 1:02 into the game and the Green and Gold did not look back. They would scored eight goals in the opening quarter and hold the Mavericks off the board for the 8-0 lead after 15 minutes. The Keuka offense shared the ball well in running their sets. The Green and Gold had assists on six of the eight goals scored.
Keuka added a pair of goals in the second half, capped off by a man-up goal by Dan Blaessig. Keuka carried a 10-0 lead into halftime.
Porter-Lemon got the Green and Gold on the board in the third quarter. The sophomore netted a pair of goals in the opening five minutes of play. He completed the hat trick in the quarter, but Medaille was able to break through. Keuka led 15-1 going into the fourth quarter.
Medaille found the back of the net in a man-down situation for their lone goal of the quarter, but Keuka had a response. Porter-Lemon scored his fourth of the game to cap the scoring as Keuka would go on to defeat Medaille College 16-2.
