The Keuka College men's golf team sits in sixth place after the first day at the annual two-day, North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championships, which are being held at the Lakeside Country Club in nearby Penn Yan, N.Y.
The Storm carded a team score of 379 while defending champion Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors carded a score of 324 to place first amongst the seven-team field heading into tomorrow's final round on the par-72, 6,549-yard course.
Rutgers-Camden holds a two-stroke lead over Penn State-Abington (326), followed by SUNY Cobleskill (329), Penn State-Berks (334), Morrisville State (349), Keuka College and Cazenovia College (407).
Abington sophomore Mike Lam leads the field of 34 golfers with a three-over par score of 75, followed by SUNY Cobleskill senior Travis Deuel and Berks sophomore Tyler Massar, who each recorded rounds of 79.
Sophomore Ben Schreiber (Hilton, NY/Hilton) fired the low-round of the day for the Storm, tying for 24th place with a score of 91.
The action will resume Saturday at 10 a.m. The team with the best overall two-day score will be crowned the NEAC Champion and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
