The Keuka College men's golf team kicked off the 2013 season at the 16th annual Oswego State Fall Invitational, and the Storm placed 12th at the season-opening competition.
The Storm shot a cumulative team score of 425, led by freshman Harrison Sardella (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), who tied for 52nd place with a score of 94 on the 6,424 yard, par 71 Oswego Country Club course in Oswego, N.Y.
Oswego State carded a team score of 305 (21 over par) to capture the team title by one stroke over SUNY Delhi (306). Elmira College was third with a team score of 314, followed by Hobart College (318), Oswego's "B" team (321), SUNY Canton (324), SUNY Potsdam (330), SUNY ESF (337), Morrisville State (341), Cazenovia College (403) and Keuka.
Junior Cory Marone (Marion, NY/Marion) finished second on the Storm and placed 57th overall, followed by freshman Nicholas Morgan (Walworth, NY/Gananda), who was 58th; junior Aaron Arnold (Erin, NY/Spencer-Van Etten), who was tied for 59th; and classmate Ian Wentzel (Naples, NY/Naples), who was 62nd.
Elmira's Evan Clarke carded an even-par round of 71 to win the medalist honors by two strokes over Oswego State's Kyle Gaillard.
Keuka returns to action next Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 24 at the annual Elmira College Fall Invitational.
