KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost their home opener at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex to Houghton College 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolves got on the board right away against the Highlanders. After fighting for possession down the right side, Alyssa Muszak broke free and carried it through the Houghton defense. Once into the circle, her shot beat the Houghton goalie at the near post for the 1-0 lead. Keuka would have the only two shots in the quarter as the Wolves led 1-0 after one.
Houghton College answered with a goal off of a rebound in the opening five minutes of the second quarter to level the game. The Highlanders continued the pressure as they outshot Keuka 6-0 in the quarter. Houghton College added a goal and led 2-1 at the half.
Both teams battled for possession in the third quarter. Keuka and Houghton each had just one shot in the quarter as the game went to the fourth with Houghton leading 2-1.
After a slow start to the fourth quarter, Keuka College applied pressure in the final minutes. The Wolves had seven total penalty corners in the fourth. The Green and Gold had multiple attempts on goal, but they were all saved by the Highlanders goalie as Keuka College fell 2-1.
