KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Department of Athletics has named Erika Profenno as their new field hockey coach.
Profenno comes to Keuka College following five seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Eastern Connecticut State University.
"The opportunity to coach at Keuka College is something I'm beyond excited about," said Profenno. "Between the team, the administration, and the support on campus, I fell that Keuka College Field Hockey will continue to grow and be successful. I feel very fortunate to be able to be a part of the future of this program."
The field hockey program at Keuka College is coming off of their most successful season in their three-year history. The Wolves sets a new school record for wins on their way to winning the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship.
Erika Profenno brings a wealth of coaching experience to Keuka College. Prior to her five seasons at Eastern Connecticut State, Profenno was head varsity coach at Joel Barlow High School in Connecticut for eight seasons where she coached multiple all-conference and all-state players.
"I've been playing and coaching field hockey collectively for over 20 years. I started coaching at the high school level and then made the transition to an assistant at the college level. Now, thanks to Keuka College, I have been able to fulfill my dream of becoming a collegiate head coach."
Profenno's collegiate playing career started at the University of Southern Maine. In her two seasons with the Huskies, she helped guide Southern Maine to a pair of berths in the ECAC Tournament. She then continued her career at Eastern Connecticut State University, twice being named First Team All-Conference as a defender in the Little East Conference. She scored five goals and added five assists as a defender in her two seasons with the Warriors. Profenno was named team captain for Eastern Connecticut State during her senior season.
Erika Profenno will coach her first game for the Green and Gold on home turf at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Friday, August 31 as Keuka College hosts the College at Brockport.
