KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost on Wednesday afternoon 4-1 to Houghton College in their home opener at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Houghton struck first 1:05 into the matchup as a long shot worked through traffic and to the back of the goal. Keuka College would answer quickly tying the score at 1-1 just 3:13 later. Off of a corner, the ball got worked to the left post. In the scrum, Taylor Lessard passed it to Shelby Lamb. The sophomore hit it home to tie the game at one. Keuka College was able to create offense early in the first half with three corner opportunities in the first 15 minutes. However, Houghton retook the lead at the 19 minute mark and would take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
After a show of defense by both teams in the second half, Houghton extended their lead with just over 10 minutes left in regulation. They added a fourth goal in the closing minutes as they would go on to defeat Keuka College 4-1.

- Sophomore goalie Kassidy Valentine was named Defensive Player of the Week by the North Eastern Athletic Conference on Tuesday. She had 24 saves in the Wolves first two matches of the season.
Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves will host Drew University at the Jephson Community Athletics Center on Saturday afternoon at 1pm. The Rangers defeated the Wolves 4-0 last season in New Jersey.
