Wolves Downed by Golden Flyers in Field Hockey

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost on Tuesday night to Nazareth College by the score of 4-1 at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

The Wolves (0-11, 0-1 NEAC) will return to North Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend as they travel to Wilson College to face the Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.

Alyssa Orsinoscored the lone goal for the Green and Gold on the evening, her fourth of the season. Elizabeth Sherman made 14 saves for Keuka.

The Green and Gold came out fast against Nazareth College. They controlled the play early with the ball in the attacking end. Nazareth responding, winning the games first corner 15 minutes into the half. It was unsuccessful and both teams would trade opportunities. The Golden Flyers struck first in what proved to be an eventful final 10 minutes of the half. Off of a failed corner, Nazareth was able to center the ball at the top of the circle and hit it home for the 1-0 lead. Just over two minutes later, Alyssa Orsino was left alone in the middle of the Golden Flyer defense. She let a shot go that found the left side of the goal, leveling the game at 1-1. Nazareth had the final say in the first half, taking a 2-1 lead with 2:02 left in the first and carried that lead into the halftime break.

The second half started much like the first, with both teams getting quality offensive chances. The Green and Gold was able to get five shots on goal and force three penalty corners in the half. Nazareth's goalkeeper was up to the task, however turning away all five shots. Nazareth added a pair of insurance goals in the half on their way to the 4-1 victory over Keuka College.
