Overtime Goal Gives Keuka College First Field Hockey Win

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Madison St. Onge scored the game winning goal 3:24 into the first overtime period as Keuka College earned their first win in program history, taking the match with Sweet Briar College 2-1.

After a scoreless first half where Keuka (1-4) controlled possession and outshot Sweet Briar (0-3) 10-2, Keuka got on the board first. Mackenzie Havens found Samantha Jonesin the second half to give Keuka the 1-0 lead. The tally by Jones marks the first goal scored in Keuka College Field Hockey program history. The Vixens did not go away. They scored with under 10 minutes left to play to tie the game and force overtime.

Keuka would control possession in overtime play. They had a pair of penalty corners in the period and a total of four shots. The final shot was the winner by St. Onge.

For their play, Madison St. Onge and Samantha Jones were named to the All-Tournament Team for the Wilson Invitational.

The Green and Gold have a week off before travelling to Troy, N.Y. to face Rensselear Polytechnic Institute at 1pm.
