Keuka College Falls in Field Hockey

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Field Hockey team dropped their home opener against Ramapo College by the score of 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Elizabeth Sherman made 17 saves in goal for the Wolfpack (0-2). Samantha Jones and Madison St. Onge recorded shots on goal for Keuka.

Keuka College will be back in action on Tuesday, September 8 as they host Elmira College. The game with the Soaring Eagles will start at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex at 4pm.

Ramapo (1-0) controlled the game early against Keuka. They outshot Keuka 20-0 in the half and had 8 penalty corners. The Roadrunners found the back of the net four times in the half. Keuka had a late offensive rush in the first half. Mackenzie Havens streaked down the left sideline. She got past multiple defenders before her attack was finally stopped by the Roadrunners, who entered halftime with a 4-0 advantage.

The second half was much more balanced as Keuka held Ramapo off the scoreboard. Keuka developed a pair of chances. Alyssa Orsino took the ball from the defensive end of the field and split the Roadrunners defense. In the attacking third, she found Samantha Jones, whose shot was saved. The Green and Gold was also able to work for a penalty corner, but their attack was stopped and Ramapo continued on to the 4-0 victory over Keuka.
