NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – The Keuka College Cheerleading team opened their weekend with a strong Day 1 performance at the Battle at the Capitol Cheer and Dance competition in National Harbor, Maryland.
Keuka College's scores will be averaged between the two days, with their second routine happening on Sunday. This is the first two-day competition in program history.
On Saturday, March 18 the Wolves put out a strong performance that landed them in 4th place after the first day of competition. They had one tumbling mistake, and one violation due to a stunting error. Their Day 1 composite score was a 91.15, including 1.25 in deductions.
"I was very proud of the day 1 performance," said Head Coach Michelle Wojnar. "The team did exactly what I asked them to do, hit all of their building skills and make improvements upon our past performances and practices. We left feeling very good about our position. We know we still have the potential to be even better, so I am excited for them to get a chance to build on today's performance tomorrow."
The Wolves competed against Division III competitors, Elmira College, Frostburg State and Delaware Valley, as well as Division II Shepherd University and Gannon University. This is the first time Keuka has faced Frostburg State, Delaware Valley, or Shepherd University in a competition.
Day 1 Rankings:
|5.||Frostburg State University||89.79|
|6.||Delaware Valley University||79.68|
