GANSEVOORT, N.Y. — A solid start to the Florida trip for senior John Rizzo led to the shortstop being named North Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
Rizzo recorded a hit in five of the six games during the week, but his best day was last Friday in a doubleheader with Juniata College. Overall on the day, Rizzo went 8-9 at the plate including going 5-5 in Game 1. In that game, Rizzo hit for the cycle with a single, a double, a triple, and his first career home run. Also in that game, he tied the school record with two triples.
On the young season, John Rizzo leads the Wolves and ranks third in the North Eastern Athletic Conference with a .520 batting average. He is third in the NEAC in slugging percentage at .880 and is also in the top five in the conference with a .571 on-base percentage.
The Wolves conclude their spring break trip on Tuesday. The Wolves will face Thomas College and Wisconsin-Stevens Point before returning to New York.
