Baseball Drops Opening Games in Florida

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Keuka College Baseball team lost the first two games of their spring trip to Lawrence University out of Appleton, Wisconsin. The Vikings took game 1 5-3 and game 2 14-6

Keuka College (3-2) will continue their spring trip on Friday, taking on Hamilton College in a doubleheader.

Game 1

Keuka got on the board early against Lawrence. Kyle Dailey drove in Robert LaRue in the first inning for the early lead. Keuka added two more runs in the second in support of starting pitcher Kyle Michaud. The senior held the Vikings off the board until the sixth inning. He also struck out seven without allowing a walk. Lawrence tied the game off Michaud in the fifth and then plated a run in the sixth and two in the seventh off of Keuka's bullpen for the 5-3 victory.

Billy McDermott doubled for Keuka and drove in a run. Thomas Fowler struck out three consecutive batters, the only three he faced, to limit the damage in the seventh.

Game 2

Dave Nuzzo drove in a run with a single in the first inning to give Keuka the early advantage. Lawrence responded with six innings in the second. Nuzzo brought home Keuka's second run in the third, but the Vikings grew a 13-2 lead after five innings. The Green and Gold plated three runs on an error by the Vikings in the sixth and Justin Torres drove in a run in the eighth, but it was not enough as Keuka fell to Lawrence 14-6.

Nuzzo and Ben Payton each had a pair of hits for Keuka. Payton also stole a bag against the Vikings.
