KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Department of Athletics will welcome speaker Julia Garcia to the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Sunday, March 12 at 7pm.
Garcia, who comes with additional support from the North Eastern Athletic Conference, Keuka College Campus Activities Board, and Keuka College Department of Human Resources, will deliver her presentation "Sex, Drugs, Alcohol and Everything in Between."
The presentation is open to members of the Keuka College and local community.
"We are very grateful to get offices across campus to collaborate, along with a grant from the NEAC to bring Julia to campus," said Senior Women's Administrator Michelle Wojnar. "I am personally looking forward to hearing her speak, but am most excited for this opportunity for our students. I believe Julia will be able to engage our audience and connect with them, and leave a lasting, positive, impression on the Keuka College campus."
Julia Garcia, a former student-athlete, gives an engaging and interactive presentation about her real life experiences. She delves into the college "hook-up culture" and the impacts it can have. Garcia openly discusses her partying habits, her sexual assault, and other real life experiences. She is able to connect to the audience with her infectious personality and empower students to make positive choices.
Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes will also be present at the event. They are a local organization who provides serves at no charge for individuals, children, and families who have experiences sexual assault, sexual abuse, and interpersonal violence in Ontario, Seneca, and Yates Counties. This academic year, at least three different Keuka College Athletics teams have volunteered in varying capacitates with the local organization.
