Wolves Honor Veterans at Keuka College Ceremony

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.— Keuka College Student-Athletes delayed the start of their weekend last Friday to honor veterans attending the annual Keuka College Veterans Day Ceremony at Norton Chapel.

Members of the Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's Volleyball, Baseball, Field Hockey, Women's Lacrosse, and Women's Basketball teams welcomed the veterans to campus and ushered them to and from the ceremony.

"The girls really enjoyed the experience," said Field Hockey Head Coach Tessa Knapp. "The team was excited to support the event and honor the veterans for their sacrifices. They enjoyed meeting and talking with the veterans after the ceremony. It was an experience that I'm sure they will remember."

Following the ceremony at Norton Chapel, the veterans moved to the Geiser Culinary Center for an honorary dinner. Members of the Men's Basketball and Lacrosse teams were on hand to serve the dinners.

Keuka College Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Jason Paige said "it's the least we can do. We owe the veterans a debt of gratitude for everything they have done for our country and the sacrifices they have made."

"It was great to have so many student-athletes from many different teams to come out and thank the veterans of our community," said Michelle Wojnar, Senior Women's Administrator for Keuka College's Department of Athletics. "Most teams in our department preach being a family, and everyone coming out and helping at the ceremony shows how close the entire department is, not just individual teams. It was great for our student-athletes to learn about the sacrifices that were made and have an opportunity to thank our veterans."
